What is Somatic Coaching?
The ancient Greek word soma means body as perceived from within. At its core, Somatic Coaching is a coaching modality that has a focus on the body. The focus of the work is on the whole self, what we refer to as the bodymind. We weave together different sources of knowing for you; thinking, emotions, sensations, felt sense, intuition and deeper wisdom. This differs from traditional coaching methods that predominantly focus on cognitive processes.
In Body-Oriented coaching we are not working in a space of solution focused coaching - we primarily work in awareness focused coaching. This gives the client the power of choice once they have awareness of the possibilities available to them. The emphasis is on forward-moving growth leading to momentum around unblocking.
This isn’t about fixing you, because you’re not broken. It’s about creating awareness that guides you back to a place where you feel grounded, present, and more fully yourself.
In our 1:1 coaching sessions, you will be held in a safe, supportive space where you can slow down, tune into your body, and better understand what it’s telling you.
Each session may include:
Tuning in to your body – noticing sensations like hunger, tension, or energy shifts
Noticing the world around you – sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touch
Simple body practices – tools to help your nervous system feel calm and balanced
Awareness of your body in space – noticing posture, movement, and how your body feels as you move
Everyday tools and education – learning practical ways to support your nervous system
Guided reflection and conversation – time to process, reflect, and feel supported
